Pumpkin seeds are relatively high in calories and fat, with around 160 calories and just under 14 grams of fat per ounce. But as most low-carb dieters will know (and even the mainstream media are finally starting to discover), high-fat alone is not nearly as likely to make us fat as excessive carbohydrates with a high glycemic index to release excess insulin - the fat storing hormone.

Being nutritionally dense, pumpkin seeds fill us up much more than high carb snacks. Importantly, they are also full of essential fatty acids like omega-6 and omega-9 fats (and some omega-3s), that have many preventative health benefits in our bodies.
