[EzineArticles] Night at the Movies: What Your Readers Want to See

Night at the Movies: What Your Readers Want to See EzineArticles.com Logo

Nightmare on Article Street Part 2 - If You Missed the Previous Article...

Starting in the middle of a movie series can make the storyline difficult to follow. The same is true for readers beginning in the middle of an article series.

Imagine standing in line with a friend at a movie theater while looking at theatre's marquee to decide what to see...

Space Invaders Part 7

Never having heard of Space Invaders, you are confused on how you could have missed previews for the first seven films. That's a lot to have to catch up with and you see there are plenty of other films available to watch. You turn to your friend and you both agree the movie is not for you...

Like you and your friend, readers want readily accessible information that is easy to comprehend without having to play catch up by looking for the preceding articles. Readers want the full benefit in one article rather than across several articles. If the reader perceives it will take too much work to go searching for all the parts, the reader will continue looking for the content they desire.

Make it EASY for readers by giving jam-packed informative value in one concise article, rather than breaking up topics into parts.

Wily Wizards III

You DID see the first and second Wily Wizards, but your friend did not. No matter how much you talk up the movies, your friend thinks it would be too much trouble to try to find I and II, and then return to watch the third. Your friend has already lost interest in Wily Wizards and moves on...

Like your excitement for the latest Wily Wizards movie, publishers are excited about your articles; however, they know the reader doesn't want to play catch-up. Content presented in a series may work for blog posts or ebooks, but a series is not easy to re-distribute for syndication by publishers.

Make it EASY for publishers and readers alike by writing self-contained articles and you will increase your chances of being syndicated. This creates added exposure for your content, your website or blog, as well as additional backlinks when your content is included on other sites.

Standing Alone

Brand new, totally original, and got rave reviews. The movie promises all the action, adventure, and thrill you and your friend have been looking for without having to go back and find additional content. Do you and your friend buy a ticket? YES!

Like you and your friend, your reader will be excited to read your article because they are not confused by anything leading up to it, they are not daunted by all the legwork to read your article, and there's a better chance they have found it by a trusted source they have subscribed to.

You can do this by narrowing down the focus of your article and planning ahead to ensure your articles stay focused on your reader's needs.

For example: let's say you are an Expert Author on building houses. If you start off on the huge topic of building houses, you are really going to end up with an article pushing the 5,000 word count limit that is not easily digested by article readers. However, if you narrow down your focus by planning ahead, you can break the topic of home building down into a set of articles like this: "Planning Your Dream Home," "To Hire or Not to Hire a Contractor When Building Your Home," "A Home Builders Checklist - Don't Build a Home Without It," "DIY Home Building - What Many Home Builders Wish They Knew Before They Began Building," etc.

Write with the reader's time and effort in mind by providing the full benefit in each article. If you do find yourself in a "series" mode, learn how to truly optimize it with the 2 Minute Approval Tips: Optimize Articles in a Series video.

There's so much to write! How do you break up large article topics into self-contained articles? Let us know in the comments section here!
