*** Natural Health Tip of the Week ***
-------------------------------------------------------------

If you don't want your child to eat an entire pillowcase worth of Halloween candy, agree on a pre-determined exchange for the entire bag: a toy or special outing in place of everything. Make it something special that is worth giving up all those sweets, but not so much that you break the bank for a bag of junk candy! For older children, a simple money exchange is enough.

-------------------------------------------------------------
*** Article of the Week: Winning the Candy Wars - By Thomas Haller and Chick
Moorman ***

-------------------------------------------------------------

Our children are being bombarded with candy from every direction. Chocolate bars, gum, suckers, and assorted gummy candies line the checkout lanes in grocery stores. School fundraisers sell candy bars, cookies, and brownies in the hallways during lunch hours. Every mall, skating rink, soccer complex, movie theater, and even the video store has a place to buy candy.

And then there is the holidays. Halloween trick or treat bags bulge with every kind of candy imaginable. Christmas stockings are topped with bubble gum and chocolate bars. Valentine messages are stamped on candy hearts and boxes of candy are the staple of communicating love. Easter baskets overflow with jellybeans and chocolate bunnies.

Candy is everywhere and its presence wreaking havoc on our children's teeth and waist lines. Children are visiting the dentist with serious tooth decay at younger and younger ages every year. Obesity in children is a national concern.

With candy being universally available and regularly within sight of children, what is a parent to do? How do you combat its influence on your children? How do you lessen the influence of advertisers and get candy consumption under control in your family? How can you win the candy wars?

The following suggestions can assist you in curbing your children's candy consumption. Use them to increase the health and well-being of your family.

1. Begin by being a model for your children to follow.
If you are a chocoholic and find yourself foraging through the cupboard for the last chocolate bar or eating an entire bag of M & M's once they are opened, reflect on the message you are sending your children. It will be difficult for you to curb your children's candy consumption when they see you unable to curb your own. So model the message. Eat a small portion of candy and set the rest aside for later. Talk to your children about your desire and your willingness to stay conscious and make healthy choices about your own candy consumption. The positive images you give them on how to set candy aside will help them to be more likely they are to set it aside themselves.

2. See candy as a wonderful opportunity to set limits with your children.
As parents we set limits around television, computer time, video games, bed times, friends, and a variety of other items. Setting limits with candy does not mean you make if totally off limits. It means that you provide opportunities for your children to enjoy candy within some clearly defined parameters or guidelines.

Children want guidelines. They thrive on structure. It is the structure provided by the adult that allows them, to relax into being a child. Of course they will push and test the limits. That is their job. Pushing and testing the limits does not mean that your children want them changed. It most often means that they want to see if the structure is really in place.

Set your limits early before you go to the store, before the Easter bunny arrives, before the Halloween bags are full, before you bring candy into the house. "We will be buying one treat today in the store," sets the limit. So does, "We are shopping for food today. This will be a non-candy trip."

Discuss with your children how candy consumptions will take place before they head out to gather a bag full at Halloween time. Agree on a portion to be eaten each day and a place to keep it. Do not allow candy to be taken into their bedroom. Do not leave bags of candy in the cupboard for easy access. This is part of setting limits and it is your responsibility as a conscious, committed parent to see that it is done.

Setting a limit doesn't means you have to say, "No." Sometimes saying, "Yes," with a qualifier, helps you avoid power struggles.

"Can I have a piece of candy?"

"Yes, you can have one right after supper."

Another important way to set limits and structure candy consumption in your family while reducing resistance and resentment is to offer children choices.

3. Offer your children choices when it comes to candy consumption.
"You can choose five pieces of candy out of your Halloween bag for today and set the rest aside for a different day. Let spread all your candy out and look at your choices."

"You can choose one piece of candy now or two pieces of candy for after supper. You decide."

"You can choose to have your Easter basket candy kept in the kitchen cupboard where we can keep track of it or you can choose to be done having access to your candy."

With candy, remind your children that responsibility equals opportunity. Your children have an opportunity to have some candy. If they are responsible with following the parameters you have set then the opportunity continues .If they choose not to be responsible with candy, they choose to lose the opportunity to have it available. In that instance, access to candy is removed.

This could mean you may have to remove all the candy from the house and make it unavailable to anyone. That would include you.

4. Make the eating of candy something special.
Educate your children that candy is not food. It is junk and has no nutritional value for their bodies. Candy and the opportunity to eat it is something special and are reserved for special moments. Keep candy eating rare and enjoyable. Once the line is crossed and candy becomes an everyday occurrence, specialness of it wears off and it presence is now expected.

Have different candy around at different times to bring attention to the special event that the candy may represent. Focus on the event and how different types of candy are significant at different times of the year. Talk about the cultural or family significance of what a particular type of candy may represent. Change the focus from that of mass consumption to that of significance to you and your family.

5. Don’t use candy as a reward.
When you use candy to motivate your children to perform a particular task or behave in a certain way, you are positioning it as a tool of manipulation. Using candy to get children to behave is a form of bribery and produces children who perform for a substance. In this way you end up producing a "candy junky," someone who chases after the next fix of the desirable substance.
Candy should never be used as a reward by parents, teachers, or any professional working with children. This distorts the role candy should have in a young person's life and teaches children that the reward (in this case candy) is more important than the task performed.

6. Help your children create an inner authority.
You are not always going to be present when your children have access to candy. You are not going to be there to enforce a limit for your children or give them choices. You want the ability to curb candy consumption to already be inside them. This control for within will develop in children if you can start early and consistently utilize the suggestions above.

Another way to help your child build inner controls is to debrief or talk through your child's choices with him after he returns from a place where you know candy is easily available. Help him think about and talk through his decisions. Ask him to articulate what he would want to keep the same and what he would like to different next time. Help him create a plan to build on his successes.

Your child's inner authority is the only authority she will take with her wherever she goes Help her learn to trust her ability to decide and make healthy, responsible choices.

By following these six suggestions you and your children can enjoy the wonderful taste of chocolate and other candies. The holidays can be filled with pleasant moments of special candy consumptions. The "candy wars" will no longer be necessary. Instead, eating candy will move from a weight and tooth decay issue to a wonderful time when one can simply enjoy a sweet taste upon the palate.

Tiny Island Holds Huge Cancer Secret...

Dear thomas,

Dr. Sears tells me he was shocked that many of the promising studies he

discovered, but how to use these hidden cures for yourself.

[EzineArticles] What Writers Can Learn From Zombies, Werewolves, and Vampires

What Writers Can Learn From Zombies, Werewolves, and Vampires EzineArticles.com Logo

These Gruesome Beasts Can Teach You How to Improve Your Writing

The monsters from supernatural lore get a pretty bad rap. Of course brain eating, dismembering, and murder to name a few are difficult to overlook ... But there's a thing or two you can learn from the most hair-raising monsters which can help you successfully bring your writing efforts back from the dead.

What You Can Learn From Zombies

  • Opportunity - Although zombies can't tell time, have terrible hygiene, and are frequently missing parts of their anatomy, they do have a remarkable trait that many of us would die to possess: Zombies are opportunists. You can be too! Fearlessly seize the moment and ensure your writing doesn't pass up on real opportunities. Set realistic goals so you don't blindly stumble into an unwinnable position, but have faith in taking a new direction when opportunity presents itself!

  • Dedication - Dedicated to their cause, zombies will go through great lengths to achieve their goal: Eat brains. Sure, they don't sleep or stop to take a break, but their unyielding focus is applaudable! Turn the tables by applying this same unwavering dedication as a writer. Stay innovative and give your readers the best content to reap the rewards (more exposure, authority, lead generation, etc.). If a zombie can do it, so can you!

  • Sense of Urgency - "Brains!" Zombies are very straightforward in identifying their goal and will not waste time in their attempt to achieve it. You too can adopt this sense of urgency! Foster this mindset: "I will complete [insert your task] without delay." During your planning, consider the benefits of achieving that goal and the consequences in not achieving the goal to help you kick your efforts into a higher gear and watch your productivity increase.

What You Can Learn From Werewolves

  • Preparation - The full moon may be a pleasant sight for us, but it's a horrible curse for werewolves. They may not know precisely when the next full moon is, but werewolves don't want to be caught off guard (especially if they're protecting someone they love) and will make preparations. You too can make preparations for the inevitable curse that plagues so many authors: writer's block. Develop a daily writing routine and have a plan to be ready for any unforeseen obstacles so you can continue providing content for your readers without delay.

  • Hunger - Werewolves are notoriously gruesome beasts, that's fairly clear. They possess an insatiable hunger - their actions can be reckless and done purely for personal gain. Acquire an insatiable taste for your goals (without the reckless part of course!). Start with short-term goals and build upon them to challenge yourself to be better, faster, and smarter. This will help you maintain a hunger drive to write and build upon your success!

  • Transformation - Vicious and savage, a werewolf transforms into beast mode: a superhuman state of being in which instinct takes over mind and body to achieve a primary goal. Transform your ho-hum writing spells into productive, high-intensity, and creative beast-mode sessions by letting go of outside criticism and telling that self-doubting little voice in your head to stuff it. Be the writer you want to be and allow the endless possibilities to be your transformative guide.

What You Can Learn From Vampires

  • Purpose - All charisma, style and intellect, vampires have a sense of purpose that other monstrous creatures lack. Whether their purpose is to find companionship, fight boredom, get lunch, or to avoid getting staked, vampires carefully try to assimilate to the crowd and build trust. Consider your purpose for writing and create a plan to execute it (as well as take precautionary measures to combat any negative backlash about you or your business). Having a clear purpose with your business will help relieve impending complications and provide a feeling of fulfillment.

  • Embrace the Lifestyle - Whether it's the richest fashions or the most extravagant castle decor, vampires totally own their lifestyle. In part, it's an attempt to blend in, but typically vampires are confident and proud to be who they are by embracing challenges and remaining devoted to their way of life (or would that be "way of death"?). Give yourself over to a writing lifestyle by developing your own voice, building your writing strengths, and turning your weaknesses into opportunities. Work it; own it!

  • Research - Garlic, crosses, sunlight, stakes - many methods that slow down or kill a vampire have been researched and passed on over the years. What many don't consider is these same methods are also explored by vampires who take precautionary steps to understand what they can and cannot do as well as document their research (usually in really old, thick books). Perform your writing research by understanding your niche and your audience to ensure your writing and your voice make a lasting impression.

What else can you learn from the most grotesque and fascinating monsters? Click here to share your feedback - we'd love to hear from you!

You've Been LIED to about your Diabetes (see why)

Dear thomas,

You've Been LIED To about your Diabetes

Why you ask...go here to watch this video.

Here are the 2 lies they have told you:

1) Diabetes is a blood sugar disease

Wrong.

The main problem with diabetes is insulin resistance, which means that your cells cannot respond to insulin properly.

And because insulin is responsible for lowering your blood sugar levels back to normal after you eat, it's normal that diabetics have constantly elevated blood sugar levels.

But does it mean that lowering your blood sugar with drugs is the way to do?

No. Definitely not.

It would be as effective as fixing a car with a piece of duct
tape...

To reverse type-2 diabetes and pre-diabetes, you simply need to fix your insulin resistance.

2) Diabetes can't be cured

It's true that most people with type-1 diabetes will have to deal with it for life.

But for 95% of people with diabetes, they're affected by type-2 diabetes, which is very simple to reverse when you use the right diet, supplements and exercise.

>> This video explains everything you need to know

There you have it; those are the 2 most common lies that even your own doctor has told you.

The video on the link below will show you a little-known but 100% scientifically proven way to ERASE your Diabetes in 3 SHORT weeks!

>> Go to video here (shocking stuff)

It is important that you watch the video to the very end as the information in it will SHOCK YOU!

*** Article: 6 Signs Your Partner is Love Avoidant - By Jim Hall ***
------------------------------------------------------------

Are you in a relationship with a Love Avoidant?

The following are six common signs of a love avoidant; see if you recognize them in your relationship partner or a past relationship partner.

1. Evades Intimate and Emotional Connection
In romantic relationships evading intimacy and getting too close emotionally is the name of the game for a love avoidant. Emotional intimacy is a vital component of healthy relationships. Intimacy involves allowing oneself to 'be known'. Intimacy is about trust, vulnerability, sharing reality of self, communicating wants and needs, as well as expressing genuine feelings and emotions. When there is authentic love, intimacy is at the core of that love.

Yet, intimacy and emotional closeness is the Love Avoidant's greatest fear. Because of early childhood experiences, they learned to associate intimacy with engulfment, suffocation, and being controlled. So the closer you try to get to your partner- their response is not to reciprocate, but to distance and run.

They are emotionally like a turtle that repeatedly pulls into his/her rigid shell when one attempts to get too close and connect emotionally. You may get occasional glimpses of his/her real self, openness, or vulnerability -- only to see them retreat once again behind their walls.

2. Does a "Complete About Face" in the Relationship -- Becomes a Whole Different Person From Whom You First Met
As your relationship progresses, you notice a complete change in your partner's attitude. A "complete about face" occurs. Your partner is notably different from the person you first met.

In the initial part of addictive relationships, the love avoidant exhibits an illusion of intimacy, caring, and connection. They form an immediate attachment idealizing their love addict partner. They come on strong and appear charming, strong, stimulating, caring, generous, and devoted. Then the relationship moves forward and soon enough the true colors of the love avoidant emerge. The seemingly once available "magical" person you fallen for becomes cold, devaluing, and disengaged.

Invariably, you try to give more, do more, be more romantic, or try to make things as they were. There is a pursuit of keeping the fantasy alive in order to recreate the euphoria experienced in the beginning of the relationship. And the toxic dance is in order.

3. Uses Distancing Strategies to Avoid Closeness
You eventually feel a shift in your partner's attitude. You sense your partner is not really 'showing up' in the relationship.

Instead of seeking intensity in the relationship, they seek intensity outside the relationship with the use of various behaviors and distractions (i.e., staying busy with activities, hobbies, internet, partying, etc.).

Some will use the distancing strategy of "no commitment" and never fully commit to the relationship. They may say, "I love you, I care about you, I want to be with you, but I'm not quite ready for a relationship." They may use the distancing tactic of avoiding 'I love you', and make excuses for why they do so. They may avoid physical closeness.

Or they might create drama in the relationship such as starting arguments, or constantly complain about you, people, the world, or grumbling about their personal problems they never seem to resolve.

4. Has an Addiction or Compulsive Problem
A love avoidant often have an addiction problem that significantly affects their relationship. Addiction is the ultimate cocktail to focus far-and-away from intimately connecting with a relationship partner.

They can have any kind of addiction, and there are many (both substance and behavioral) - gambling; drugs; alcohol; internet/computer; exercise, gaming addictions, work, and the list goes on.

Additionally, a love avoidant partner can become a love addict -- not in the relationship, but outside. More common than many people imagine, they can be in a committed relationship (or married), and become extremely addicted and obsessed with a person outside the relationship.

5. Is a Narcissist or Displays Narcissistic Traits
Love Avoidants are prone to narcissism. Not all are full-blown narcissists; nevertheless, a majority will almost certainly present some traits of narcissism.

A Narcissist may show two faces -- the one they wear in public, and the one they wear in close interpersonal relationships, which is not a good one. On the outside in public, they can present a nice, pleasant exterior. People who are not close to them may view them as a fun, confident, charming, outgoing, social person.

Only those close to the narcissist have any idea there is more to them than this one fictitious face. Behind their façade of tough-skin, strength, and charisma is a very fragile, wounded person who is thinks the world is all about him/her and feels above their relationship partner.

One telling trait of narcissism is the sense of entitlement. They feel their needs and wants are all that matters; and their attitude is you should feel the same. They expect you to anticipate their every wish and if you do not -- look out!

Other narcissistic traits:
-- Lacks empathy.
-- Has difficulty taking responsibility or admitting mistakes.
-- Grandiose: Is impracticable and idealistic in view of themselves.
-- Easily becomes defensive/feels threatened.

6. Is Resistant to Professional Help
The love avoidant is often very resistant to change and rather content with status quo as long as they feel in control of things. As a result, they will often refuse or resist help such as counseling, therapy, and treatment.

To seek professional help through a therapist or counselor requires one to be vulnerable, open, honest, and accountable. In other words, it requires allowing oneself to be open to intimate connection, (remember, intimacy is their greatest fear).

If they do come in for treatment (often by being pulled in by their partner), they do so with emotional walls. Their defenses will be up and will avoid and distract from areas of emotional discussions, or issues of responsibility.

If you are a love addict and your partner is love avoidant, it is important to keep in mind--that his/her attitude and behaviors, and who they show themselves to be in the relationship is not about you, or what you did or say, or what you did not do or say. You may have been too clingy, or too needy, and you may have made mistakes and blunders along the way--- but these are not the reasons for why they are the way they are.

Before you knew them, before a relationship started with you, he/she was the person they are with you. It is part of who they are and how they operate in relationships.

If you want to have a happy, fulfilling, and healthy love relationship -- it will not happen with someone who is love avoidant (and by the way, it goes both ways). Sometimes this is a hard reality to face- although in the end, it is a reality that will set you free.

Unless and only unless an avoidant partner is willing to look at themselves can healthy change occur -- BUT don't bet on that.

*** Article: Getting Intuition in an Instant - By Arupa Tesolin ***
------------------------------------------------------------

We tend to experience intuition in momentary flashes that arrive from time to time often in circumstances where we don't expect it. That's part of the allure of intuitive experience that it seems to lie beyond our beck and call. But it is possible to summon intuition in the moment when a response is needed. And because intuition contains information and "facts" beyond the thinking mind this could be highly desirable. The goal is insight. The key is preparation.

Even management professor Harry Minzberg has said that if we were all intuitive geniuses our management strategies would be right on. Every entrepreneur knows that often the path to the next decision is paved with insight. For the rest of us, we know from experience that having insight in our pocket is far better than moving ahead without it and likely to save us a lot of energy, money, and heartache if we follow it.

So how can we prepare? As a Speed Intuition expert I have a few things I can share about this.

1.) Get beyond the stress response.
Realize that if your mind is full and you are worried or anxious about anything, you're not going to be able to respond to the quieter signals your intuition is sending. So cultivate calmness and learn to de-stress yourself in the moment by instantly being able to calm down both mentally and physically.

One of the easiest ways to do this is to start doing a body relaxation exercise at the end of every day. To do this you start with your feet and work your way up to the top of the head, consciously relaxing and feeling every part of your body losing the muscular tension of stress. After a couple weeks, once you have learned to "feel" what your body feels like without stress, you should be available to do a 5 second countdown and get there.

2.) Learn how to position yourself to listen to intuition.
Psychics and intuitives are able to call upon their skills on demand. That comes from having a certain amount of giftedness, but it also comes from experience and practice. Those who are good at it have learned to be able to turn it on at will and tune in to something on that level.

The easiest way I recommend is to develop a Yes/No intuition response, so you can intuitively answer questions with a yes or no answer. It's simple but it's a really good way to start becoming sensitive to intuitive information. You can train your hands to feel if the answer is yes or no. Your hands might heat up or tingle or itch as the intuitive response. For example, you can set it for your Left hand to be associated with a "no" answer, right hand could be "yes", (or reverse if you're a leftie like me). First you need to calibrate your hands, so start by affirming things that are yes, like your name, age, where you live, and then give wrong answers so you can feel what no feels like. Or you can do the same thing with a visual response, like seeing a green light for yes and a red light for no. Once you have practiced enough so that you can perceive your response, then use this during the day for situations when you want to turn on your intuition. Ask the question and see what the response is. It takes practice to be good, and sometimes you will still get a neutral response, which means, there is no yes or no.

3.) Pay attention to the way intuition shows up for you.
Intuition is always on as it is your direct connection with the universe. You may experience it mostly visually, through sound, or just knowing. Pay attention to how it shows up, and what your personal recognition preferences are. The more you do this, the more likely you will be to recognize it. It's the same when you buy a new car and suddenly notice all the other cars like yours on the road. In essence you are "priming" yourself to be sensitive to your own intuitive recall.

4. Go deeper.
One of the biggest positive influences of intuition is having some kind of meditation practice that you enjoy. Going deeper is the best way to leverage your intuition talents because the point of greatest power and transformation is within. When we meditate we are literally paving new neural connections that better integrate us with the nature and unity of the universe. That is why we often experience deep insight and revelation between bouts of calmness and peace. Meditation doesn't need to be difficult. The easiest meditation I give my students is this one that I invented. Inhale and sense "I am breathing the universe." Exhale and sense "The Universe is breathing me." Do that for a few minutes and you will easily reach a point of inner calmness where you can just experience and be aware. If you wander, just gently go back to your breath.

5.) Recognize intuition as a skill that you can master and learn.
Then you'll be able to apply it in all areas of your life, career or in business. Like any skill, it needs to be practiced, developed and cultivated. You can't do this simply by reading about it. It must be done through experience. So set up some kind of practice regimen and stick with it. You'll see results.

So, yes we can train ourselves to turn on intuition in an instant. It's a skill that, just like anything else, takes a bit of practice to master.
