Learn how to safely use built-in presets for file sharing access permissions.
 | Dear Acrobat customer,
As you may be aware, Adobe Acrobat recently released more granular controls for its file sharing capabilities to provide you with more choice and control in sharing, collaborating on and protecting your documents.
When you share a link to a PDF file with others, you now have the option to set private, organisation and public access permissions. If a recipient doesn't have access, they can request access from you. Given this new capability, we want to call your attention to specifics related to file sharing access permissions: - Private: Paid Adobe Acrobat customers can invite specific users to access the shared PDF file link.
- Request access: If the link reaches a recipient who does not have access, they can request access. The document owner is notified of each request and can decide to grant or deny access, maintaining control over who views the document.
- Organisation: Adobe Acrobat Teams or Enterprise licence customers can share a PDF file link accessible only within their organisation.
- Public: Anyone on the internet can access the shared PDF file link. This option is helpful for sharing with a large audience and doesn't require recipients to sign-in. Please note that public links aren't a secure way for sharing confidential or sensitive information.

To see all the files you have shared, go to the Shared by you list in your Acrobat web, desktop or mobile app. After opening a shared file, you can use the Share button to modify sharing permission. You can also unshare files anytime.
Understanding these access controls empowers you to share and collaborate on documents while safeguarding your cloud-based content and minimising risk of unintended access.
